The Light of the Wood

Many years ago, I met an elderly wood artist in Asheville North Carolina and he told me a story that has helped a lot of people. In a slight Irish brogue, he explained that the Irish and Scottish craftsmen who settled the Blue Ridge mountains had a term for wood with iridescent properties that they called "solas an adhmaid" or the light of the wood. They believed that trees store light and that the light changes form, but never fades. Because of that conversation, I decided to add these species of wood to the Wellburl collection so people who've lost a loved one can watch the light and remember. If you've ever wondered what you can do to comfort someone who's lost a loved one, this is it.
